Taking care of your skin on a budget

We all know that taking care of your skin can become very expensive. With the big-name brands and celebrities holding up products that they swear take away your blemished skin, all are FAKE! I promise you, all you need is three simple products.

Social media and certain brands have made people believe that you need some crazy-expensive products to keep clear skin. From using simple cleansing water, face wash, and face lotion. Your skin will start to glow. Some stubborn blemishes can actually be a case of acne and should be seen by a dermatologist. At the age of 12, I started to see blemishes arise. I of course was just getting into makeup at that age and never knew what a makeup wipe was. So that makeup sat on my face, for a long long time. When I noticed my first blemish I felt embarrassed. Middle school girls were cruel. I went through dozens of products. Spent money on products that all went right in the trash. In fact, some products made my blemishes worse. Throughout my years I found three simple cheap products that have made my skin silky smooth with a simple glow.

Let’s dig further into finding products that work for your skin.

Your face care routine doesn’t need to be a long expensive process. Products with the first ingredients oils are oil-based (meaning the first product in the ingredients list is any kind of oil) drys out your skin, stay away from those. Your goal is to find a product water-based and only a few simple ingredients. Look for Aqua/Water as the first ingredient. Next begin to look for products with minerals like SODIUM METHYL, COCOYL TAURATE, or SODIUM COCOYL. Strong face products have materials that help clear your pores without clogging them. Stay away from products that start with ALUMINUM. You don’t need to gravitate towards big brand names in fact, some of the big-name products’ ingredients hold chemicals like ALUMINUM.

My face cleaning routine

I avoid makeup whipes whenever I can. I personally feel they don’t do the job of removing your makeup effectively. I simply use Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water. Which removes my makeup. With two simple cotton rounds and a quarter-size amount of the cleanser that removes all of the makeup, I had on. It holds Vitamin C that helps brighten up the skin and give you that fresh clean feel. Which I can promise you, it does. I like to stay with products that have no smell and no sticky feeling after removing my makeup. At college, my face cleansing routine has changed. I feel rushed since 18 other girls need to use the sink too. I like something quick and easy to wash my face. No face brush just my two hands. It’s very important that you wash your hands before cleaning your face. You don’t wanna carry those germs, especially the college bathroom germs. I’m in love with the CeraVe hydrating cream-to-foam cleaner. I’m not only just memorized by how the lotion turns to foam with the drop of water but I also fell in love with the feeling after I cleaned my face. CeraVe has 3 main essential ceramides, amino acids, and hyaluronic acid. These acids prevent disturbing the protective skin barrier. Not only does CeraVe clean your face I searched for a product to also moisturize my face with the cleaning process. I place a dime size of the CeraVe cleanser in my hands with lukewarm water and in a circular motion to remove any oil and the stubborn mascara on my lashes. Using a clean face towel I pat not rub my face after washing my face. Always moisturize your face after cleaning it. It’s important to keep moisture on your face especially after a fresh wash. I have relied on the Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion. It lights and has no sticky feeling after. It also hydrates. Dry skin can lead to a lot of issues. Take a few steps to keep it clean and hydrated.

Here’s a secret to save some money

go to Target, Shoprite, Walmart, or any store that would hold the option of face products. Look for your face cleaner, like CeraVe. I promise you not far from the left or the right you will see the same product just with the store logo or the store brand. It’s the same product, just in a different bottle and cheaper than the name-brand product. Let me prove it to you. At Target a brand Cetaphil is $12.45 compared to the store brand that’s priced $3.99. An $8.46 difference. Now as a college student, that $8.46 can go towards a textbook or a meal on my college campus. It’s not just with face products, major name stores will have their own version of what you’re looking for just cheaper. Same thing, in a different shaped bottle or just a different name. As a college student, do whatever you can to just save money. You’ll thank yourself for it in the future I assure you.

A Bit About Me

I’m currently a freshman in college adapting to this new “lifestyle”. I’ll be honest with you, it’s been far from easy. From getting locked out of my dorm room the first week, to running late to classes, getting my first bad grade on an exam, and the hardship of saying goodbye to the people I called “home”. I can easily tell you these last two months in college have molded me into a new person. With that, I got the drive to pursue something I’ve wanted to for a long time, Which is a blog. I love the simple lifestyle. I look forward to teaching organization tips, beauty tips, my season favorites, and how to make the best out of your college situation. I’m currently a business major with the hope to move on to law school. I’m so excited to begin this blog. SIt back, stay awhile XOXO.

The most important thing is to enjoy your life-to be happy-that’s all that matters.
